I am now an urban beekeeper, but have been making prints, installations and artist books about bees and vanishing pollinators since 2007.  I have many woodblocks and polyester plates that I have created from old natural history texts about apiculture. This interest came in an unexpected way. My studio mate Bea Howard suffered a stroke and I started to make prints about Bees in tribute to the industrious way she had to work to gain back her speech and mobility. No one is more surprised than me how this all happened.  Bea is doing well in Santa Cruz, CA.
